RE: Fueling RV

I believe I might let granny be a bit uncomfortable for as long as it takes to fill the tank and pull out from the pumps. Certainly if I was adding propane.

RE: Curiosity...for Southern States

I does indeed get cold in the South, but not like 'up-north'. We try to head South (Florida below Orlando at least) if there is a snow/ice storm around here. I have seen it 22 degrees in Northern Florida.

RE: 285 around Atlanta

I can only add that on Fridays, heavier traffic starts around noon or a little after. Keep to your lane and don't be switching until you see signs for your exit. People around Atlanta will help you change lanes, but you have to give them some notice.

RE: I 81 VA cg for overnight suggestion

Interstate Overnight RV Park in Christiansburg, VA. We stayed there a few years back. Easy on and off, 20 bucks (drop the money in a slot on the door) full hookups. Laundry and bathroom/showerhouse.
Not a destination stop but great to rest the night, dump and fill the tanks or shower.

RE: College football - week 12

Well, I have stopped saying much on these discussions. We won - just barely but it was a victory nonethelss. This has been a season with so much potential and so disappointing results. The Herschell Walker years at Georgia spoiled the BullDog Nation and we expected National Champs every years. But now.... I'm not sure this computer BCS business even the Walker years would rate a National Championship. Florida is the team to beat now!

All this for a $3.00 part? Warranty or no, order the part and be done with it.

RE: Michelin Super Singles anyone?

So what would a set of wheels cost? Figure that in the equation and then the abstract of chance of a flat or damage. Throw in the liklihood of a spare from Joe the Tire Guy and the chances of me ever buying them goes WAAAAY down.

RE: Huntsville AL to Chattanooga Hwy 72?

Good grief yes!! Beautiful drive, four lane divided, just a couple of small towns. Gets down to 2 lanes as you approach I-24 around Petersburg. We love that drive.

RE: Group to match RVers to take something to their destination.

No thanks, sounds like a good idea until.... The shipper decides I broke the item and wants to be reimbursed. Until some dude wants to ship a sealed box with some bags of white powder... "Honest officer, this guy that I never met or seen before yesterday paid me to deliver this box to 'some dude' in Atlanta".
The item is in Atlanta, in good shape, is not dope and the recipient wants you to bring it to his house in Buckhead some place on a dead end street, or can't get over to pick it up until 'later tonight'.
Or DOT finds out I am shipping for pay and decides I need a commercial license and a DOT permit.
Naw, believe I'll pass.

RE: Hydraulic Fluid in a Freightliner Chassis

Don't think the tank mentioned has anythig to do with the leveling jacks. We have had two Freighliners and this is the power steering reservoir.

Probably not a problem with potted plants, but planted pot might give you a problem with the local LEOs. ;)

The folks in charge of visitor services at the park tell me they have added several dump stations inside the park with the 3 year upgrade plan they are working on.

RE: yellowstone trip

Fishing Bridge is crowded and in the middle of the woods, but as someone said, you are not there to enjoy the CG you are there to see the park. You will spend little time other than sleeping there.

RE: Eagle, Colorado

This is the last elk season there this year and they are determined to score. I have seen a Google earth of the area when they were looking for another person to go last year. Somewhere west of (I believe) of the Eisenhower Tunnelthere is a ranch on the side of mountain and in the valley. There is a railroad running beside the Colorado River that is near the ranch. Somewhere a few hours up past the ranch is where they are camped on the mountain. They do have some horses.
I suspect these guys will have some stories to tell when they do return. No cell phone bothers their families a bit, especially if they get snowed in.

RE: Mayberry Campground/Mount Airy NC

If you were standing at the open end of the pavillion looking inside, look over your left shoulder, up the hill near some Leyland Cypress trees. There are three or so houses there. He belongs to one of them. He is answering barks from another pup who lives up the road someplace outside the park and behind the office. Owner says he will take care of the problem and I believe him. We will see when we go back in April.
Any site on the far hill would be the farthest away.
Don't let anything like a pup barking stop you from this great place.

RE: Mayberry Campground/Mount Airy NC

I have to agree with Tom N. It is a great place and the owner does everything he can to make the place as good as it can be. If he could just silence a certain barking dog next door... Tom knows what I mean.
It was a great rally!!

Eagle, Colorado

We have friends camping on a mountain near Eagle elk hunting. Have not heard from them in a few days. Last report was well below freezing and blowing snow was building up around the area. Anyone near the area who can give us an update on the weather in the mountains there for the last couple of days?
These ole boys are from the Soouth and are not used to blizzards. Sorta worried about propane heaters and such.

RE: Mt. Rushmore

Custer State Park
The park now has electric sites at all the campgrounds except the primitive camping area at French Creek.
Look at the maps and photographs on the link.
Cleanest bathroom/showers of ANY state park I have ever visited. Dedicated cleaning crew that cleans every day.
Just down the road from Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Needles Highway, Iron Mountain Road and a short drive from Sturgis, Rapid City, Wind Cave and Jewel Cave
Wildlife Loop has all sorts of creatures from antelope, elk, buffalo, wild burros, prairie dogs, elk and wild turkey.
Prices are right as well!
